A critical and ratings hit, Season 4 of Corner Gas features more high-octane laughs as Wanda tries to install Oscar and Emma’s new toilet, Hank lives out his dream of becoming a rodeo clown, and Brent is impersonated on the radio by a DJ from the city.
Corner Gas garnered three nominations, including "Best Comedy Program or Series," for the 2006 Gemini Awards to add to its list of impressive accolades, which include an International Emmy Award nomination, three Canadian Comedy Award wins (for Writing, Direction and Male Television Performance) and a Director’s Guild of Canada Award (for Outstanding Team Achievement In a Television Series – Comedy). By season 4, Brent Butt and co. still offers us some great episodes with Corner Gas. Sure, there are a few weaker ones. It can start to get old at some point because the characters never evolve and nothing ever really happens.
That being said, it provides so many laugh-out-loud moments that I can't help enjoying it still.showing signs of weakness - outlander78
Corner Gas was the best comedy on TV, better than anything else I have seen since. It has no laugh track, quirky characters that are still real(ish), and a lot of intelligent wordplay to go with the slapstick bits. The show does not resort to dirty jokes, sexual innuendo etc (except for a great episode about the size of your cell phone). In short, it is a great sitcom for all.
For me, this is the season where the show started to weaken. There isn't anything I can put my finger on - perhaps the novelty had worn off. I still like the format, the lack of a laugh track, and the witty, intelligent wordplay. "It's not you, it's me", perhaps - the show become predictable.Starting to get old, but still enjoyable - Ralston_McTodd
Season 4 is fun, but the show hasn't changed. That's part of its charm, but it's also repetitive. The jokes are new, but the patterns and rhythms are old.The characters have stayed in the same situation for 4 years. It's a little bit like "The Simpsons" where you get into a habit of watching and then just fade out at some point. It's the TV equivalent of comfortable old shoes.
