We rented this because someone told us that important stuff happens at the Hoover Dam. We love the Hoover Dam and have visited it twice. (The most recent time we took the "dam tour" (heh) and really enjoyed it. Recommended if you are not claustrophbic.) Anyway, the movie was very silly and very ridiculous, and we will NOT be watching the sequel or the other sequel, but we did enjoy seeing the Hoover Dam and learning about its fake Transformers-related history. Decent CGI but plot holes big enough to drive a transformer through.Great special effects, CGI, okay supporting cast, otherwise... - whp123
This is a good movie. Special effects and CGI are out of this world. Supporting cast were also good. (I especially liked Shia Leboef's onscreen parents.)
But otherwise, it is just an average action movie. I mean Shia and Megan are not really good actors. Megan, I think, is just eye candy and unless she do some character movies and show her chops will not have a long screen career.See it - Gulielmus
See it if you're a fan of the original Transformers, or of the genre in general, or enjoy action-packed, edge-of-your-seat sci-fi movies. Unlike its sequel, this Transformers movie is really outstanding, with amazing visuals, a solid a well-paced story, and generally excellent acting, especially by Shia Lebeouf who demonstrates his strength in conveying a lot with great subtlety. If Optimus sounds familiar, it's because that's the original voice actor from the series - what a boon! This was like going back home again but where everything is even better than you remembered it to be.
