The Office: Season 1 (U.S. Series)
Steve Carell (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, The Daily Show) stars in The Office, a fresh and funny mockumentary-style glimpse into the daily interactions of the eccentric workers at the Dunder Mifflin paper supply company. Based on the smash-hit British series of the same name and adapted for American Television by Greg Daniels (King of the Hill, The Simpsons), this fast-paced comedy parodies contemporary American water-cooler culture. Earnest but clueless regional manager Michael Scott (Carell) believes himself to be an exceptional boss and mentor, but actually receives more eye-rolls than respect from his oddball staff. Entertainment Weekly calls The Office 'smart and trenchant,' and all six hilarious season one episodes are available here on DVD for the first time. The awkward silences in The Office will have you laughing out loud!

NBC did an amazing job of adapting the british version of the show for american audiences. The series is led by comic genius Steve Carell, who puts his own unique spin on the boss character made famous by Ricky Gervais. The show holds its own in comparison with its british counterpart, and in my opinion is actually funnier. Apart from the pilot episode, the program uses its own new scripts and has created fresh episodes that are funnier than anything in the british series. The casting and performances are execeptional. The show has quickly carved its own identity separate from the series on which it was based.Stick with it -- it gets much better - eli_quincy
The short first season of the American version of "The Office" offers few hints as to the show's great potential. Really, it's almost a word for word transfer of the amazing British series, which was a massive mistake that should have been avoided. In subsequent seasons, the characters at Dunder Mifflin will grow into their own and become as memorable as their U.K. counterparts. At this point, however, the writing just isn't there yet.For anyone who has worked in Corporate America - Ihearthuckabees
The Office is a mix of coworkers set in a very mundane office setting in Scranton, PA. What spices it up? Michael Scott.
At first you think he's just obnoxious and has no heart. But the more you watch The Office, the more you realize he's true blue. He loves work, values his employees (except for Toby) and generally believes in what he does for a living. He just has some political correctness challenges that he's constantly working on.
The show has a genuineness underneath the wacky story lines. You'll like some characters more than others, then not like them, then like them again. Just like at work. It's a little dysfunctional family all your own to watch. ENJOY!
