LOVE IT!!! I am a big fan of the Tudor's in general. Anne Boleyn was my favourite wife of Henry VIII so I love seeing her story. I wasn't as happy with how they portrayed Mary as a big slut, but she was the king's mistress as well for years so it is not like she was innocent. I found it confusing how they kind of merged Henry's sister's into one character, and the story is not compeletly historically accurate, but it is good entertainment and awesome to watch. A REAL-LIFE soap opera! Based on historical events which makes it so much more fun!!Entertaining History - fiwi
Those who didn't pay attention in their history class will enjoy this series tremendously. Excellent casting, lavish costumes and sets - all in all a very glamourous telling of the tale. For some though, it might be difficult to get past the poetic licence and perhaps the title should have included the words "based on..". The entire cast is remarkable. That said, Sam Neill deserves special mention for his wickedly humble portrayal of Cardinal Wolsey as does Maria Doyle Kennedy as the patient and loving Catherine of Aragon. Bosoms abound and Henry VIII has been drop-kicked into the 21st century mind-set giving us a most entertaining History lesson complete with intrigue, violence, lust, greed and of course, sex.Tudor upstarts - Woody2
What a fun series, though you will have to bite your tongue at times if you have any knowledge of British History! Mostly fairly accurate, but there will be quibbles with some parts of it. Merging Henry's two sisters into one seems a stupid idea. No marriage to King of Portugal, no murder of same. But I will leave the rest for you to discover. Meanwhile, enjoy the costumes, scenery and the lusty youths and maidens. Lots of that, and a glorious romp through history.
