Hairspray (Blu-ray)
It's 1962 and change is in the air in Baltimore. Tracy Turnblad, a girl with big hair and big dreams, has only one passion in life - to dance on "The Corny Collins Show." When her chance arrives, she grooves her way into instant stardom and the eyes of teen-dream Link Larkin. But with the program's scheming stage manager against her, trend-setting Tracy will need the help of her best friend Penny, her big-hearted mother and sassy co-host Motormouth Maybelle to show the world that all it takes to make a dream come true is a toe-tappin' beat and a little Hairspray!

Pretty good movie, the songs are very catchy, you will find yourself tapping your feet to the beat! Saw this show live-which too is also a must see. Kinda different that John Travolta plays the mom, not sure what to take on that. But overall a pretty good movieCharming time passer - eoguy
"Hairspray" is charming. It's really not bad at all. It's colorful, the songs suck you in (I was tapping my foot throughout a couple numbers), witty lyrics AND it's a musical that doesn't treat you like an imbicile (it can be inappropriately raunchy, too....kind of like an episode of "The Simpson's"). Travolta is a scream - and touching! Perfect performance. 400 pounds in a dress & a dynamo. Amanda Byrnes is also perfectly cast....as is Michele Pfeiffer & James Marsden (the guy who plays "Corny Collins" - this guy's sexy; I want to see more of him). The whole thing's breezy....like a day at the beach....& it's over before your interest wanes. Now can you really ask for more?Entertaining - Coruscant
Travolta was a bit of a stretch as the mother, but the rest of the cast did a great job with this musical. Most of the musical numbers were very well done, with great choreography. The occasional song seemed to run a bit long without adding much to the overall story. Although intended to be lighthearted and comedic, there are some interesting messages conveyed. It is interesting to see the relative progression of societal norms from the 60s to today.
