This movie is AMAZING- it was, I believe, the very first all-CGI feature-length movie and as such it's just incredible, and really until Avatar, hasn't been surpassed- and given the insane amount of new technology and techniques necessary for it, Final Fantasy The Spirits Within is still better, relatively speaking. The story is typically Japanese- serious sci-fi with wild but not outrageous technology and subtlties to the ideas that don't translate very well- but so what, it's so cool, none of that matters. In fact, fans of the genre would love it FOR all that- I sure did. Highly recommended.FF is for Fans and Others Alike - Kristy4819
I have been a huge FF fan since FF5. This movie has the same basic "save the planet" them as the more recent FF games since FF7. Even if you have no idea about FF, and have never played FF before, this movie is an amazing gateway into the FF world.
You may become curious and try some of the recent FF games...the graphics in the movie don't do the recent games justice: the background is too forground comparitively to the recent CGI stuff out there. Desipte this the movie has a cool plot, (although at times can seem a little over done), and if nothing else shows great CGI work.Good if you dont know the video game ... - Pupus
Great movie. Two thumbs up for animation quality. Sadly those who know the video game titles were dissapointed to see that the story had nothing to do with it. Squaresoft tried to please everyone and they betrayed their loyal video games fan by using to title as a bait and doing a non-related scenario. Shame on you Squaresoft !
