The beginning of the end of SeaQuest - Wookie2630
Out of loyalty to the amazing first season of SeaQuest (and Zip systematically skipping many movies on my Ziplist and shipping me these almost without missing a beat) I sat through the whole second season of SeaQuest..all 8 disks.
Without dwelling too much on the first season of SeaQuest, that season was absolutely brilliant where the futuristic underwater conquest and consquent events were actually half way believable. The second season is a totally different story as it deviates more towards an under the ocean Star Trek theme. For starters, a new female physician is introduced onto the crew who also happens to be telepathic. (remind anyone of Deanna Troi?) There is also a genetically engineered "being" (who is to the right of Captain Bridger on the cover) who is added to the crew, who while is not an officer can have comaprasions made between him and Lt. Worf as he is a big, strong and there are conflicts between people of his species. (making him a somewhat contreversial crew member)
As for the plots of the episodes..wow. Viewers are privied to such subjects as: the aforementioned genetic engineering, aliens (the same ones from the first season), an underwater wormhole to the future, an out of control AI submarine with nuclear missles, killer plants, a worm that lives in the Earth's mantle that shoots lasers and fire from its mouth, a giant crocodile, the mystery of Atlantis, Neptune (Greek mythology), a powerful telepath trying to take over the world, meaner aliens (than the first ones they met) and lastly (but certainly not limited to) space travel to another planet in another galaxy.
It's hard to convey my emotions about the second season. Yes it was bad, but for some reason something stopped me from deleting the series from my Ziplist. You may want to give this a shot, especially if you liked the first one.
Also of note, unlike the first season, there are 2-3 epidsodes per disk unlike the first season when there were 6Amazing Season - suebee55
Seaquest was really ahead of their time, you see a lot of the story lines are more fact now then fantasy when the show aired. I loved the Deluise family together, and still love to watch Dagwood and Piccalo. Having been a fan from Seaquest, it made it more fun to see them together in Stargate SG-1. This is a must have, watch over and over season.
