Lots of twists and turns, suspense - the "good guys" and "bad guys" switch roles constantly so you never know which is which. It's rare for me to be so hooked on a TV show, but this is definitely one to watch. Glenn Close is absolutely fantastic - definitely worth checking out!Wow! Best show you've never heard of. Highly reccomended - Johnwc
Somehow, I had never heard of this show. Someone recommended to to me, so I added to my ziplist, without much thought or expectation.
This rare combination of skilled writing and acting is extremely rare for television. I expected Glenn Close to be outstanding and she exceeded my expectations. Perfect casting. The bigger surprise is how good the rest of the cast is.
The sophistication and intelligence of this show simply blows away most other shows. While I'm not typically into legal dramas, due to their overdone and formulaic approach - this show is different. It is deeply character driven and generates its drama from compelling characters and well crafted stories that arc the entire season, combined with very well employed flash forward and flash back techniques.
Do yourself a favour and add both available seasons to your ziplist now. I'm eagerly awaiting Season 3 on disc and was very happy to learn that the show has been picked up for seasons 4&5 by another network after being left in limbo after the end of season 3.Damages - Film Noir Lives in Television - Ernest
Although I have only seen disk 1 so far, the first 4 episodes are keenly crafted and remind me of some of the best film noir movies of the mid 40's. I am totally fascinated by the twists and turns of the story line(s) and the superb acting, particularly by Glenn Close who plays the out and out evil lawyer. I kick myself for not having zipped the entire series and I will now have to wait for the remaining disks.
