Event Horizon
Infinite Space - Infinite Terror
Its name: Event Horizon. The high-tech, pioneering research spacecraft mysteriously vanished, without a trace, on its maiden voyage seven years earlier. But a weak, persistent signal from the long-missing craft prompts a rescue team, headed by the intrepid Captain Miller (Laurence Fishburne, The Matrix and Mission: Impossible III), to wing its way through the galaxy on a bold rescue mission. Accompanying Miller is his elite crew and the lost ship's designer (Sam Neill, Jurassic Park); their mission is to find and salvage the state-of-the-art spacecraft. What they uncover - instead - is state-of-the-art, interstellar horror. Back to electrify - and terrify - is Event Horizon, now as a two-disc Special Collection DVD that contains never-before-seen special features, including a five-part documentary on the making of this unforgettable motion picture. Kathleen Quinlan (Apollo 13) and Joely Richardson (TV's Nip/Tuck) also star in this gripping sci-fi thriller.

Oh man.............. - Thrills_n_Chills
.Oh man, this movie was so injoyable to me that i was salivating throughout! Fishbourns acting, and that english villan guy were awesome, Fishbourne is a natural in roles of authority. This kind of movie is right up my alley, its scifi/horrorific/ has a creepy concept that dealing with outerspace may have spiritual aspects (in this case scary ones). IF you just LOVE these adventure movies where there are a handful of people trying to survive together and problem solve then you will love this one, its similar in feel to The Thing, Stephen King's miniseries "Storm Of The Century". I was stunned over the set design, they used very little CGi and that made it look SO real! (And beautiful), also considering it was late 90's that makes it even more impressive, it still holds up today.Don't save yourself - Jamie1
I probably love this film more than I should.
While you might expect good acting from Neill and Fishburne, the rest of the cast acquit themselves admirably. The set design is striking and the model work is excellent -- there are problems with the compositing of the special effects with the live action, but that's to be expected in a movie more than a decade old. The plot is fairly standard haunted house horror, but there are elements that really reward a second viewing, such as the opening scene of Dr. Weir getting ready to shave.
Also, I'd like to point out that the score and sound design are top-notch. Except for the strange decision to include the Prodigy's "Funky S**t" over the closing credits, the use of music (and silence, which is all too often missing in horror films these days) is quite skillful.lack of originality - clauditorium
Self-conscious horror/sci-fi film suffers from a gaping lack of originality, ripping off Alien, Aliens, The Shining, 2001: A Space Odysssey, Hellraiser, and Flatliners, among others. Marred by some stupid action movie humour and a few very annoying supporting characters. On the plus side, the set design and cinematography are impressive, and there is some unforgettably nightmarish imagery.
