Though I did see this film at a relatively young age, I only watched it once and hardly remembered any of it. I quite enjoyed it the second time around not long ago, with the exception of a few of the songs. Most of the song were pretty catchy though, I still have that "Paris Holds the Key To Your Heart" one stuck in my head! The plot was interesting and exciting, despite criminally straying from the source material. Last but not least, Rasputin made a great villain, hats off to Christopher Lloyd for yet another great performance! Hank Azaria was also great as Rasputin's comic relief bat sidekick, Bartok. He later got his own spin-off which isn't nearly as good as this film, needless to say. Overall, if you like animated films this is a must-see!
8/10Anastasia - dayhomelady
Animated classics are always a big hit with children and some are a very interesting way for them to learn about history. Anastasia is one of those movies. Based on the real Russian princess of history and mystery, this movie speculates as to what could have happened to her. It is a heart-warming tale about a young woman's journey of self discovery. In the end she discovers that in reaching the end of her journey, it was the journey itself, along with her travelling companions, that hold the secret to her true desires and the key to her future. The younger children were a little bored with the movie since the content was a little over their heads, but the older children were just glued to it and then wanted to know all about the real Anastasia and her family. Not only was it a wonderful movie to them, it was also a door to a fantastic learning experience. Anything that inspires the children to learn is a bonus in my books!
