Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story
2-Disc Unrated Edition
Contains the 96-Minute Theatrical Version and the 120-Minute "American Cox: The Unbearably Long, Self-Indulgent Director's Cut"
One of the most iconic figures in rock history, Dewey Cox (John C. Reilly) had it all: the women (over 411 served), the friends (Elvis, The Beatles) and the rock 'n' roll lifestyle (a close and personal relationship with every pill and powder known to man). But most of all, he had the music that transformed a dimwitted country boy into the greatest American rock star who never lived. A wild and wicked send-up of every musical biopic ever made, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story is gut-busting proof that when it comes to hard rocking, living and laughing, a hard man is good to find.

This is a very silly movie, which I must say I laughed at a ton. It's a little too dependent on "Walk the Line" (Im mean, if you haven't seen Walk the Line, you won't get at least 1/3rd of the jokes). The songs aren't quite as good as I was hoping, and the jokes are often one note, but there is a certain appeal in dumb humour done completely straight. It's certainly entertaining if it isn't exactly amongst the great music mockumentaries.Mockery or Debockery? - movie_goer
I was never really a fan of Walk the line to begin with, you could say i was the black sheep who was alone in this opinion, that a parody seemed perfect.
Phoniex's performance seemed more exciting then seeing John C. Reily have gay sex and talk to a monkey. I was rather offended by most of the jokes, scratching my head in dismay. Just like walk the line- walk hard is an epic failure for me aswell. Sorry Johnny cash i tried.Guilty as Charged - AandW
Mildly amusing. But better than I thought. I zipped it to laugh AT it, but I ended up laughing WITH it. It's a spoof on Walk the Line. About a young rock star making his way through the world and abandoning his family, taking on a mistress and trying drugs. There are some great cameos from Eddie Vedder, Jack White as Elvis, Jack Black as Paul McCartney, Malcolm in the Middle as Buddy holly, Walowitz from Big Bang, the I'm a Mac guy as George Harrison as more. Tim Meddows (The Ladies Man, SNL) shines in a supporting role.
