In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale
The life of a hardworking man known only as Farmer (Jason Statham) is changed forever when a marauding band of Krug—animalistic brutes in the thrall of an evil sorcerer—thunders down upon the unsuspecting village of Stonebridge, killing his son and kidnapping his wife, Solana (Claire Forlani). Galvanized by his grief, the once peace-loving peasant leads his mentor Norick (Ron Perlman) and brother-in-law Bastian (Will Sanderson) in pursuit of the Krug army to free Solana.
As the Krug overrun the countryside, the King’s magus Merick discovers the true source of their power: his old rival, Gallian (Ray Liotta), a formidable and power-hungry wizard. Gallian plans to use his hellish militia to overthrow King Konreid (Burt Reynolds) and place his sniveling pawn, Duke Fallow (Matthew Lillard), on the throne.
While the King’s forces ride forth to engage the bloodthirsty Krug, Farmer and his companions slip unseen through the treacherous mountain passes of Ehb into uncharted territory. A daring night time raid on a Krug encampment turns tragic when Norick and Bastian are captured and Farmer barely escapes with his life.
Desperate to find his wife and friends, Farmer joins the royal army in an epic battle. His extraordinary heroics catch the attention of both Gallian and Merick, who suspect there is more to the simple country squire than meets the eye. In a final confrontation that will determine the fate of Ehb, it is up to Farmer to claim his birthright and defeat Gallian, or allow the evil wizard to take control of the land.

I figured it couldnt be as bad as some of the reviews had said while still garnering 2 & 1/2 stars, could it?
It was that bad. Bad acting, bad lines, ridiculous costuming, bad story. How someone could take a bunch of arguably solid A list talent (ok, there's a few B's in there, sorry Burt) add them all up and end up with a D list movie is beyond me.
Oh well, at least i salvaged some of my life by giving up on this one at the 35 minute mark.Very boring - mxg123
A farmer gets in trouble with an evil army, and gets the Kings army involved to help him. The army of the King failed to protect several villages from this evil army of the evil lord, so several battles happened lead by the King himself, which the King eventually dies naming the farmer his long lost song and king.I actually liked it - suntep
I can say I actually liked it! LOL I can see why some folks would hate it, but the elemets are there for this movie to be quite good. Sadly I'm going to blame it on directing becuase the story line is in place and there is plenty of talent at disposal! All the director has to do is manegne it properely and he does not. This movie is so close it's sad. The death of their son should have been a much more dramtic moment! I thought Jason Statham did an okay job but needed to help in stretching in a role never done before. A lot talent done here but fully capable, but sadly a great film just misses. It has it's moments, but not nearly enough and I feel Jason Statham name was used for money and his career was certainly not furthered!
