Dirty Harry
"You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?" - Harry Callahan
In a signature role, Clint Eastwood plays a streetwise San Francisco police detective who gets the job done. A rooftop sniper (Andy Robinson) named Scorpio has killed twice. Harry Callahan will nail the perp... one way or the other... no matter what "the system" prescribes. Filming on location, director Don Siegel made the City by the Bay a vital part of one of the best police thrillers ever made.

Dirty Harry: the definition of cool! - Lone_Wolf
Dirty Harry really is classic Clint Eastwood, as well as a classic 70s action movie. It certainly has its flaws. The bad guy sometimes was just too over the top, and sometimes certain scenes should have been cut down a bit to get rid of excessive running through darkness...but ultimately these things don't really hurt the movie because it's just so cool. Harry Callahan is an awesome character. His lines are all timeless (if you haven't heard at least one line from this movie, you need to get out of your hole), his Magnum is his only friend, and he hates playing by the rules. The results are fantastic, and Dirty Harry is full of great scenes, lines and chases, including the initial bank robbery, which Callahan single handedly takes down while eating a hot dog, or the final bus chase scene in which Harry jumps off an overpass onto a moving bus. The movie really is cool. Not technically perfect, but it's one of those movies that has flaws but is still awesome none the less.

A total masterpiece from start to finish, mainly down to the iconic performance of Clint Eastwood. "Dirty Harry" would not be anywhere near as good without the star turn from the young actor. He holds the screen in every scene and makes the character both compelling and likable. The breakout movie for a screen legend and one that made him one of the most bankable starts in America enabling him to go and become the actor legend but also one of the worlds finest directors.
