Dirty Harry
"You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?" - Harry Callahan
In a signature role, Clint Eastwood plays a streetwise San Francisco police detective who gets the job done. A rooftop sniper (Andy Robinson) named Scorpio has killed twice. Harry Callahan will nail the perp... one way or the other... no matter what "the system" prescribes. Filming on location, director Don Siegel made the City by the Bay a vital part of one of the best police thrillers ever made.

I was disappointed in the first installment in the series of five films about the original, no-nonsense San Fran cop battling bad guys and authority with unquestioned toughness and determination. Eastwood’s performance stood out in a dated film with brutal special effects and awkward, artsy direction better served for a soundstage. The director never really captured the fear that a serial killer should have instilled. You do have to love the “ask yourself ‘do I feel lucky?’” dialogue and the classic image of Harry waiting for the killer on top of the bridge in the climactic scene.A Masterpiece - Sports
A total masterpiece from start to finish, mainly down to the iconic performance of Clint Eastwood. "Dirty Harry" would not be anywhere near as good without the star turn from the young actor. He holds the screen in every scene and makes the character both compelling and likable. The breakout movie for a screen legend and one that made him one of the most bankable starts in America enabling him to go and become the actor legend but also one of the worlds finest directors.Absolute badass film! Clint Eastwood shines! - Silverthorn
I would like to first discuss this particular DVD on zip.ca - this is the 2-disc special edition of Dirty Harry released very recently. The quality of the video is amazing and the discs are supplemented with great features on Clint as well as the Dirty Harry series.
I do not have to say much about this film. Created in 1971 and is absolutely a classic action film that shows Harry going against the rulebook to catch the bad guy (a convicted rapist).
The 'system' allows this rapist to be out there after he was caught. Harry made it his vow to capture him and have him arrested. The "do you feel lucky, punk?" line is amazingly done in this film - the first time and near the end.
The music is by classic composer Lalo Schifrin - who scored a ton of hits like Mission Impossible, Enter The Dragon and even recently worked the "Rush Hour" trilogy.
Clint Eastwood shines in this movie and the story is very emotional, has the viewer on his/her feet, and the dialogue and situations are extremely well done. Do not watch any of the sequels to this film because they do not come close to holding up to this amazing picture.
If you want a total badass crime-drama-action, this is the movie to pick up. It is not by anyway "old", it stands the test of time and beats most action flicks released today.
Thumbs way way up!
