The Odd Couple: Season 4
Their Relationship Is A Perfect Mess!
Neil Simon's famous oddballs are back, as The Odd Couple returns with all 22 Season Four episodes, remastered onto 4 discs. The much-loved series really hit its stride this season, with classic episodes that were superbly written and hilariously performed. As Oscar (Jack Klugman) works hard to keep roommate Felix (Tony Randall) out of his life, Felix works even harder to involve Oscar in his. This season, Felix ropes Oscar into dancing in a ballet, appearing in an opera, and even starring in a movie!
Also the season, numerous flashbacks give us a peek into their early lives, including Oscar as a young slob. Returning are Felix's ex-wife Gloria, Oscar's secretary Myrna and ex-wife Blanche, and their large-nosed pal Murray. The Odd Couple is back and better than ever!

Odd-ly Dated - Mookie
Some sitcoms hold up over time and some feel a bit dated. I just watched a bunch of Dick Van Dyke and the humour still works, mainly because it was rooted in reality. the Odd Couple, on the other hand, went a bit too far twisting reality for the humour to stand up as well. They are two great characters played by two wonderful actors and there are many great comedic moments. But it is ths tories as a whole that fall flat.
One example, Flying Felix, starts off with a great comedic premise...Felix is afraid to fly and Oscar must try to get him on the plane. But it ends with them being on a Charter plane where the rest of the passengers parachute out (in Houston?) because they are in a parachute school and then the pilot decides to do air stunts with the plane since now there are only 2 left on board (with a 747). It's that kind of lame humour that makes some moments so cringe worthy.
Overall, there are some great moments and this is a better sitcom than most but not in the top 20 by any means.
