Burn Notice: Season 1
Spies don't get fired, they get burned.
Covert intelligence operative Michael Westen has been punched, kicked, choked and shot. Now he's being burned, and someone's going to pay! When Michael receives a "burn notice", blacklisting him from the intelligence community and compromising his very identity, he must track down a faceless nemesis without getting himself killed in the process. Meanwhile, Michael is forced to double as a private investigator on the dangerous streets of Miami in order to survive.
Fully loaded with sly humor, Burn Notice is a fresh spin on the spy genre with plenty of precarious twists to keep you guessing and enough explosive action to keep you riveted!

This show is very well written, but unlike another reviewer, I do not think this is anything like Alias. Alias veered from believability too often and was a sci-fi show where this is more like The A-team (but very well written) where the main characters help people who get themselves in trouble with bad guys. Lots of humor here too.Action, humour & spy-advice, Burn Notice season 1 ...a hit from day one!! - eyewitness
Most action/mystery/suspense TV shows these days take the form of grim police procedurals and then –BAM– along comes Burn Notice. It's a lighthearted spy & crime drama about a jaded professional spy whose career suddenly falls apart. He has to re-examine his career up until now and the effect it has had on his personal relationships.
Burn Notice is full of wit, humour and suspense. Each action-packed episode stands alone and also contributes to the ever-present “who burned Michael Westen” question. I love the narrative by the main character, explaining little bits and pieces of the spycraft ala MacGyver. I was hooked on Burn Notice from the first episode and I highly recommend it.A nice discovery! - Cricri7
Burn notice has been going on for 3 seasons and I just around to seeing it. I was pleasantly surprised. It has humor mixed in with action. It tells the story of an ex-spy that needs to work for a living because he can't spy anymore, he is black listed by the organisation he worked for.
Jeffrey Donovan is a great lead actor...funny...and extremely good looking!!! Let's just say that he appeals to older women when he takes off his shirt!
