Eli Stone: Season 1
Just when you think you've found your way... life changes direction.
Follow Eli Stone (Jonny Miller) on his quirky quest for answers in this exciting and upbeat comedic drama. When Eli awakens to an unending George Michael soundtrack that only he can hear, gets dive-bombed by a WWI bi-plane on a busy San Francisco street, and faces a fire-breathing dragon outside his office window, there are two possible explanations: delusions caused by a potentially fatal brain aneurysm or the chance that something greater is at work. He might just be a prophet sent to change the world. Natasha Henstridge, Victor Garber and Loretta Devine lead an acclaimed supporting cast in this wonderfully wacky new series, Eli Stone: Season. Complete with every Season One episode, exclusive bloopers and behind-the-scenes footage, this four-disc box set will surprise, inspire and leave you feeling like you gotta have faith.

Imagine Boston Legal meets Glee. Not a great combination. Eli is a lawyer (no spoilers coming, I swear) experiencing a life-altering event. Suddenly he sees and hears things that aren't really there. Well, I guess if they didn't involve crappy song and dance routines, it would be entertaining. But after Eli snaps out of one of his trances for like the 9th time while doing a polka in the middle of a law firm meeting - you'd think his boss would take steps.
Anyhow, it's a relatively innocuous show with an uplifting message that believes in happy endings. That's sometimes enough to keep people watching.Outstanding! - Isis59
I watched this when it was a television series and thoroughly enjoyed. Inspiring and uplifting. Loved the esoteric content juxtiposed to the life of a lawyer that is on the fast track to much success who starts to have visions. George Michael music and performances were really fun and now I have my sister hooked on this.Terrific television - QueerNorth63
What a surprise to see some great ensemble acting in a show that delivers more than the promise. I think this could have easily slipped into something less than the sum of its parts. It succeeds primarily because of the believability of Johnny Lee Miller in the lead role and some great writing. Believable characters in some pretty unique situations which stretch the bounds of disbelief in television comedy writing. Good strong writing which delivers the key message of this show in every episode, without seeming heavy handing or prosletizing, is the biggest accomplishment. You find yourself rooting for the guy who has visions and sees things, and all this results in him taking a new path in life. Unlike the less than stellar effort of the Aidan Quinn show, where he talked to Jesus in every show (which was creepy and unbelievable), this show touches on humanity without stooping to the schmaltz of 'Touched by an Angel' style soporific writing. Greg Berlanti the creator, is to be commended for putting together some great stuff. Too bad it was no more after season one. After I played the last DVD with the last episode, I was overcome with a tremendous sadness that there is no more Eli Stone. I recommend this for all those people who enjoyed Ally McBeal when it was in its heyday. If you liked that show way back when, then this one will feel familiar in its vibe.
