Pushing Daisies: Season 1
Every not-so-often, along comes a show that's different. Wonderfully different. Pushing Daisies, TV Guide's Matt Roush writes, "restores my faith in TV's ability to amuse, enchant and entertain." It's the story of Ned, a lonely pie maker whose touch can reanimate the dead. Cool, but there's a hitch. If Ned touches the person again, the miracle is reversed. If he doesn't, a bystander goes toes up. What to do? Easy: Team with a private eye, bring murder victims back just long enough to discover whodunit, and collect the rewards. Things go well until Ned's boyhood sweetie is the next dear departed, and he can't resist bringing her back for keeps! Dig the wit, style and quirky romance: If you're not laughing, you may need a visit from Ned.

Possesses a dark fairy tale aesthetic complimented by vibrant primary colours and gingerbread sets. Unfortunately the “quirkiness” is a bit too forced and the deadpan acting begins to grate on your nerves. One episode was enough for me despite many rave reviews.Rent it, watch it.......love it.... - Seragilo
Sigh, yet again the masses can not handle a program that actually *used* the english language. We are left with fabricated 'reality' shows, sappy unrealistic teenage dramas and CSI wannabes. I knew as soon as I fell in love with Pushing Daisies that it would not last....It's quick wit, snappy retorts and engaging plots were too much for the brain dead American 'Joe Six-Pack' to follow. If only I had the touch and an extra minute...Quirky fun - joannetoher
This is an original, quirky and funny gem of a show. It's full of color and wonder. If you're looking for a little whimsy and amusement put back into your day look no further.
It's the story of Ned, a lonely pie maker who has a gift. He can bring the dead back to life with his touch. The only problem is once he touches them again they are dead again. If he brings them back to life for too long, something or someone else will die, thus restoring a cosmic balance. Luckily Ned has managed to find the perfect use for his talents by pairing up with a PI who is in need of a man with such talents. Ned owns a pie shop which he created for a simpler life.
Nothing stays simple for long. Ned comes across the murder of his first love Charlotte aka Chuck. He brings her to life again but cannot bring himself to let her die by his touch. So Ned rescues Chuck from her death creating the conundrum: Although strongly drawn to each other, they can never touch.
This story mixes the macabre with the fantastical beautifully. The cast are wonderful at bringing the life to this story. Lee Pace as Ned is endearing and Anna Friel just lights up the screen as Chuck.
It's not a show for everyone but if you like your screen to shine with color and your stories to be fantastical then you'll enjoy this.
