In a time where just about every comic book hero is given it's own movie thanks to the technology we have nowadays, it's hard to tell what is actually good and what isn't. Surprisingly, a lot of the comic book movies aren't that bad, but they aren't that great either. And of course, a few just downright suck...this is all in my opinion of course ;)
So in came The Dark Knight. When I seen it, all I could say was wow and bravo...and encore. Now I know there are people out there that give it so much praise you would think there is not even one thing wrong with the film, in other words, they're overrating it (which it seems like I just did with my wow, bravo, and encore). But I think why people have been so ecstatic about the film is because they've been exposed to so much Hollywood formula movies, when something unique like this comes along, they finally feel like they can breath as a moviegoer. I don't think it's as great as I hear a lot of people make it out to be, but it is some damn good filmmaking.
The acting is great (thanks Heath Ledger) and the plot is very Batman-esque. The great thing with the Batman comics is he can be a very dark character, which allows someone who wants to tell a story with him to explore humanities deepest desires, feelings, insecurities etc.
The attempt at humor in the film falls short sometimes but Christian Bale's "Batman voice" should keep you laughing slightly throughout. I can't believe no one told him to modify his voice to something less comical sounding. He's just trying too hard.
With so much hype around a movie, how could you not see it and want to give your own 2 cents about it, even it is to yourself.Awesome - sampid
In short, it's a masterpiece. One that will knock you out of your seat. It is the best Batman film ever, the best superhero film ever and the best film of 2008. If there ever was a possibility of a summer film winning Best Picture at the Oscars (like Titanic and Lord Of The Rings), this should of joined their ranks. It is rightfully deserved. Do yourselves a favor and see this piece of art. Repeated viewings highly recommended.A Must See for Anyone. - Movies4Robb
Christopher Nolan certainly doesn't disappoint in this sequel to "Batman Begins". Besides the amazing performance by Heath Ledger, I applaud the cast and crew with an amazing film. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. The writing and screenplay was intelligent. The action scenes were amazing, especially on Blu-Ray. Certainly a must see for everyone!
