Reaper: Season 1
Meet Satan's Favorite Slackers
Sam (Bret Harrison) is a slacker whose world turns upside down on his 21st birthday when he learns that his parents sold his soul to the Devil (Ray Wise). Forced to be Hell's bounty hunter, Sam, with the aid of his goofball friends, must track down evil-doers and send them back where they belong.

If watching Ray Wise take a crack at playing The Devil isn't reason enough to watch this series don't worry; the rest of the cast is plenty entertaining in their own right. Wise's dry, understated presence is so perfect that he steals every scene he is in. But, to be honest, this is not easy as the supporting cast is so good in their own right that the entire plot of demon hunting almost seems incidental to the ridiculous everyday antics of the cast.
The series does an excellent job of developing an ongoing story which carries throughout. Each of the characters carry their own weight and the subplots are just as entertaining as the overall story. Watching this trio of hapless, unfocused slackers bumble through their everyday lives is entertaining enough. When they are thrown into battle against some very unusual demons with the most ridiculous weapons it becomes a work of comedic art.
Filled with slapstick, sarcasm, and wit this series is bound to entertain.A good time - eli_quincy
"Reaper" isn't a great show, but it's one that's very easy to love. Between Ray Wise's compulsively watchable performance as the devil and the good-natured rapport between Sam and his buddies, it's just the sort of show that is so completely agreeable that it's easy to watch an afternoon melt away as you watch.Reaper - DolphLundgren
Reaper came out the same year as another really good action/comedy, "Chuck". While I never found Reaper to be quite as good as "Chuck", it wasn't far off at all. There is a lot of comedy here. Much of it is generated by the main character's best friend "sock". Season 1 just pits the main character (Sam) against all sorts of escaped souls from hell with often comical vessels (devices to capture the souls).
