Band of Brothers (Blu-ray)
They depended on each other. And the world depended on them.
Based on the bestseller by Stephen E. Ambrose, the epic 10-part miniseries Band of Brothers tells the story of Easy Company, 506th Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, U.S. Army. Drawn from interviews with survivors of Easy Company, as well as soldiers' journals and letters, Band of Brothers chronicles the experiences of these men who knew extraordinary bravery and extraordinary fear. They were an elete rifle company parachuting into France early on D-Day morning, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge and capturing Hitler's Eagle's Nest at Berchtesgaden. They were also a unit that suffered 150 percent casualties, and whose lives became legend.

This is one of the first Blu-Ray I bought, because of the picture, I've started watching Band of Brothers, then I just stopped because I didn't have the time to just sit there and watch it... So I waited, and one night with my husband, we decided to watch it, and we just couldn't tear ourself from the TV untill the end 6 discs later. It is one great true story, of courage, brothers and togetherness. It is worth seing and read about it on wikipedia... There are great men behind all of this!Given the respect they deserve. - MyBlackDog
Band of Brothers is one of the best shows I have ever seen. To travel with the men of Easy Company (one of the most decorated and battle tested companies in the Second World War)through some of the most horrific and bloody battles of the War was a real honour to watch. It was funny at times, tense and scary at others. As a viewer you get a real glimpse of what fighting in this war might have been like and the bond these men must have formed. One could compare it too 12hrs of Saving Private Ryan.
I'm really pleased I was able to see this program. I highly recommend adding it to your Zip list. I give it a 5/5.War Changes Us. - HaroonA
What makes this particular WW2 film stand out from many other imitations of that time (aside from its near 10 hour length), is the brilliant humanity it is brought to screen with. The events of 101st Airborne division are well documented, and for that reason you will truly feel what these men felt across their journey. From their training camps to many years later in the heart of Germany, you will see the toll war takes on soldiers. An outstanding captain becoming a drunk, or to surrendering Germans marching strong and proud even in defeat.
Band of Brothers elaborates upon almost ten different aspects of WW2 across its ten episodes, however the continuity of the story is never broken. It was an enlightening and at time frighteningly surreal look at World War 2, and it is highly recommended as a very accurate and earnest look at the war from the perspective of a few brave men.
Comparing then and now, it's obvious to see war and humanity has completely lost its honor. Just compare Band of Brothers, to HBO's other recent war mini-series... Generation Kill. You really begin to see, the attitudes that men in power posses, and the honor they lose to uphold that view.
