Afro Samurai: Resurrection (Director's Cut)
Afro Samurai avenged his father and found a life of peace, but the legendary master is forced back into the game by a beautiful and deadly woman from his past. The sparks of violence dropped along Afro's bloody path now burn out of control - and nowhere are the flames of hatred more intense than in the eyes of Sio. She won't quit until Afro is schooled in the brutal lessons he dealt those who stood in his way.
This is the unrated Director's Cut edition, with additional footage not in the broadcast TV version.

The story is rather standard. The writing is unimaginative but adequate for the story. The voice acting is good. Samuel L Jackson does a very good job.
The anime style of Afro Samurai is superb. It is a joy to watch. I am not a fan of anime. I have seen a few anime movies. I don't like the way it looks. Just my opinion. This is by far the best anime movie I've seen. Heavy Metal is still my favourite animated movie.
I saw the series before the movie. It helps tie the story together. You can apply the review of the movie to the series also. Not as good, but still good - Spagged
The first film is better by a great deal. This feels kind of like the scraps of the first film. However, they're some pretty cool scraps! It's still got the same cool vibe that the first film has and it gives you some more of the history of the Afro Samurai.
Don't expect too much and you'll be happy. It hasn't improved anything and lacks the plot of the first, but it still delivers an enjoyable experience with lots of blood and violence that you would expect.
Well worth a look.Even for Non-Anime Lovers - Just_Lacks_Zazz
Afro Samurai picks up from the former series, and although it does leave some questions unanswered and doesn't quite carry on with some of the concepts from the first, it is still a great movie.
The theme moves away from revenge and Afro concentrates solely on the defense of his father's name and memory. However, our cold-blooded killer is as mean as ever, leaving countless dead in the wake to fulfill his quest. Several characters make their reappearance in the story but new nemeses show up keeping things refreshing.
I'm not much for anime but the artwork in the Afro Samurai series is too good to pass up. The illustrators take a great deal of time to shape every detail until it's perfect. A very good choice for anyone who loves art, wants to take a chance with anime, or just wants to watch a good movie. 5 stars.
