Twilight
When you can live forever, what do you live for?
When Bella Swan's (Kristen Stewart) mother starts traveling with her new husband, the 17-year-old leaves her home in Phoenix and returns to live with her father in tiny Forks, Washington. After the endless sun of Arizona, Forks' misty grey climate is quite exotic to Bella - as are her new classmates, the Cullen family. Impossibly good-looking and extremely private, they are unlike anyone she has ever met - in more ways than she realizes.
The Cullens are a family of immortal blood drinkers. For decades - centuries for some of them - they have disciplined themselves to consume only animal blood, living the vampire equivalent of a "vegetarian" lifestyle. They hide under the Olympic Peninsula's cloudy sky, living as normal a life as possible and keeping to themselves to protect their secret.
Bella becomes especially fascinated with Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), but her new classmate keeps her at arm's length. In truth, his attraction to her is overwhelming and he fears that his vampire nature will overcome his self-control. Bella is the soul mate he has searched 90 years for, but her scent threatens to send him into an uncontrollable feeding frenzy.
Unable to resist spending time with Bella, Edward reveals himself to her in the hope that his secret will repel her, but the teenager only becomes more infatuated. Soon the young couple is inseparable and Edward's internal struggle intensifies in the face of Bella's consuming desire to become one of them. As Bella discovers more about Edward's world, she throws herself headlong into a thrilling and terrifying romance, attracting the attention of a group of nomadic vampires who lack the Cullens' squeamishness about human blood and target her as their next victim.
Based on the #1 New York Times best-selling book series by Stephenie Meyer.

Rented this one as the wife really wanted to see it. I hadnt heard of it nor read the books. Saw tons of praise and glowing reviews so I expected alot more than what feels to me a teen angst vampire story (am I the only one who thought Dawsons Creek while watching this?)
They left it open for a sequel (apparently there are more books) and many plot threads are just getting started so I do feel those who know more of the story will appreciate subtleties than those who hadnt read the books.
Bella moves to a new town to live with her father (as her mother has some issues of her own). At her new school she becomes fascinated by a family of outcasts, in particular Edward who saves her life. Edward is very confused (he should be mature enough at this point, the actor plays him as a teenager) about his feelings for Bella and doesnt want to get too close in case he cant control himself.
And that essentially is all we see of the plot, the introduction of the family and thier struggles to understand each other.
Secondary plot threads are not developed yet, but mainly centre around a clan of wolves (werewolves) and some random vampires who travel through the town killing, one of whom becomes obsessed with Bella.
The director did a good job as shots are nice and atmosphere is there, but as a complete movie it really left me feeling hollow.Twilight - AppsScraps
Based on Stephenie Meyer's dreadfully written novel of the same name, Twilight surprised me. It takes the usual story of a common girl who moves to a new town, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), and has her fall in love with the town's misfit student, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). It's all been down before yes, but the twist here lies in the fact Edward is a vampire. Despite the overt corniness of the premise and the pedestrian acting (especially on Stewart's part), director Catherine Hardwicke makes a great go of it. Filmed with the perfect amount of darkness, dread and romance the result is a film better than the sum of its various parts.
A film certainly worth sinking your teeth into gives Twilight my rating 8 out of 10.I love twilight - Wentai
This was a magnificent film. Strong female leads, great acting, wonderful chemistry between the actors and super story. Kristin French is a rising star and this movie has some super supporting cast members as well.
In most Hollywood films the female star gets captures and patiently waits to be rescued. That doesn't happen here. While some of the plot may be very derivative, they still avoid the basic damsel in distress subplots that have been so overdone.
In many films they use dialogue to push the storyline forward; not really the case here. Evidence perhaps that more novels should be turned into movies.
