Wow! Zip.ca, order the final volume! - Darrenm
Without a doubt, Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo is the best series to see a North American DVD release in 2006.
Brilliantly directed, a totally unique and beautiful art style, along with a gripping storyline full of twists and cliffhangers.
At first, I was a little wary of starting the series, as I was turned off by the whole "Count of Monte Cristo" thing...I really hate period pieces. Gankutsuou, however, is almost nothing like the original story and is not a period piece in any sense. It takes the appeal of an old France, and infuses it with a blast of Sci-Fi, making it feel far more modern (it actually takes place during the year 5000+).
It's too bad that Zip refuses to order the 6th and final volume, as this is a series that EVERY anime fan needs to watch. Get on it, Zip! Stop starving those of us who signed up for the promise of anime!Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo - Chapter 6 - Busterkane
This animation series has some of the most innovative and beautiful artwork I have ever seen. The art mixes computer animation overlaying various textures and colours over traditional drawings.
Zip.ca we need chapter 6 please because this concludes this excellent anime series. Thanks.
