Facing a brand new set of challenges the intrepid pair discover spectacular but unforgiving terrain, rich cultures and unforgettable local characters. They travel from John O'Groats to Cape Town descending through Western Europe and Africa before arriving at the southern most tip of the continent. On their incredible journey their endurance, biking skills and friendship are tested to the limit. They are partnered along the way by friends and director/producers David Alexanian and Russ Malkin who were responsible for organizing the expedition and filming the documentary. This 3 disc special edition contains the entire extended 10 part TV series of Long Way Down with an additional 2 hours of episode footage. It also features one hour of new extras, including Ewan and Charley's The Missing Face documentary - the story of the pair's first trip to Africa, unseen and extended footage, enhanced photo gallery and interactive route maps.

Long way down is a Journey undertaken by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman, on which they rode south through 18 countries in 3 months time.
Starting in John o' Groats in Scotland to Cape Town in South Africa. The hype and expectations are running high, tension between Ewan and Charley blow over halfway. While rushing the first 6 episodes with 6 countries, the thought of skipping through Italy without actually taking a moment to absorb the oceanview or drink a cappucinno in a cafe... was poor judgement vs. bad timing.

Once again Ewan and Charley do an excellent job of showcasing their journey. I was riveted to their adventures and misadventures, their troubles and their families. They have a lovely way about them. This is not just a movie about motorcycles and traveling, but also about Friendship.Feed your travel bug - JeffHay
Being a travel addict who never fully got his fix yet, I was very happy to come across this movie. Its a lot like a real life Motorcyle Diaries, which is probably what attracted me to it in the first place.
The main attraction of the movie is not the two stars, although they are entertaining enough. I found the relationships between the actors and support crew to be more interesting. But the real draw of the movie are the small side stories along the way, such as meeting the guy cycling around the world, or the woman in the oasis who offers them fruit. I find i had these expectations going in, such as Rwanda would still be a country teetering on the edge, whereas Egypt was relatively safe. I was then pleasantly surprised that my thinking needed updating on both and that they way we see these countries in the West is sometimes quite inaccurate.
