Pushing Daisies: Season 2
Dig into a delicious second helping of Pushing Daisies, the multiple Emmy Award-winning series. In this season, Papen County's Pie Maker with a witching finger for waking the dead, and his alive-again love Chuck, have more on the menu than a Terrifying Bee-Man and a Deep Friend Chicken Magnate. The secrets are served deep-dish when family skeletons - both literal and figurative - loom over the Pie Hole and its patrons. As jockey cum waitress Olive Snook joins a nunnery to mend her broken heart, the Pie Maker who broke it hides Chuck from her Aunt Vivian and mother Lily, who believes she's dead. Naturally, this results in resurrecting Chuck's father, who actually was dead. Private Investigator Emerson Cod has daddy issues of his own when his baby-stealing baby-mama finds herself at the center of a damned dam murder case. This wondrous, witty and moving confection is as irresistible as the Pie Maker's three-plum pie.

I did not know what I wanted to watch so decided to watch this. I was not sure i was going to enjoy it, but was pleasantly surprised to find it to be fantastic all around. very highly recommended for all fans of the genre. smartly well written & performed by all.Not as good as season one, but still worthwhile - eli_quincy
How many Pushing Daisies fans were really surprised when ABC gave the show the ax? The show always seemed too quirky and too gloriously offbeat to get an extended life from a network owned by Disney. Of course, it didn't help that the show actually seemed to suffer slightly in its second season, as some of the storylines began to feel forced. Still, the show remains beautiful, whimsical and hilarious. Not to be missed. Not quite as good as season 1 - HelexraAscianti
In this season the show became darker, and much more serialized.
While a serialized show is not bad (indeed, I think that serialized shows are superior to ones that just make stand-alone episodes), the direction it took was not one to my liking.
When I say darker, I mean significantly darker, almost into (but not quite) black-comedy areas in some spots.
Anna Friel displays how she is a FANTASTIC actress in this season with wonderfully full ranges of emotion.
It isn't as suffocatingly romantic as season #1 (too bad) however it does tie up the storylines at the end of the season (though in a rushed way) but opens some new ones (which are not explored) should you wish to read the Pushing Daisies comic book coming out in Spring 2010 created by the series creator/writers.
The writing is still good, though not quite as good as season #1 (owing to the darker changes which did not really suit the show as much) as the writers/producers/network might have hoped, however it is till good.
I would rate it 4/5 instead of 5/5, if season #1 was a 5/5.
I can see the show not being able to go any further than it had, not really much further, because of the concept of it. Perhaps it could have made a season #3 (or a full season #2), but it begged to be on HBO/Showtime because of the quirky nature of it.
Oh well.
If you loved the 1st season you will really like the 2nd season.
And then want to read the comic books.
Which as I am writing this are not out yet.
