Che
Academy Award winning actor Benicio Del Toro delivers an extraordinary performance about the legendary revolutionary "Che" Guevara. November 26, 1956; led by Fidel Castro (Demián Bichir), a band of 80 rebels sails to Cuba. Among these young rebels is Argentine physician, Marxist, soldier, Ernesto "Che" Guevara. Nationless, strapped for resources and fueled only by determination, the group engages in swift, bloody battle to free the Cuban people from the corrupt dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista. Che and his soldiers wrestle the nation's resources and affection from Batista's grasp. Though considered a hero by some, Che becomes a hugely controversial figure.
This epic 4 1/2 hour is presented in two parts: Part 1: The Argentine and Part 2: Guerrilla.

An interesting look at how Che saw himself and his cause. Not a bad story when viewed in context and Del Toro portrayed the part very well. I would caution anyone who wants to know or learn about the "hero" Che Guevera that this movie is very one sided (as it's based on Che's own writings) and does not cover the many less savory parts of his "revolutions". It's unfortunate that a more balanced movie could not be made about Che's life. It it were I wonder how many people could still wear his face on their T-Shirts.Che: Review Part 1 - The Canadian - SoloSymphony
I would have to disagree with my fellow comrades who felt the movie to Jumpy, and hard to follow (especially with 99% Subtitles) ... this movie was realistically paced and a wonderful character peice, I felt connected to the character of CHE, who was beautifully portrayed by Del Toro. The film was gritty but very well produced.
I knew little to nothing about Che nor Castro before this film, now I feel compelled to read up more about this part of the world.che - revolutionary - SirDrake
Just finished watching Che part 1. This is the first part of an overall multi-part movie. It does not provide you with background information but launches directly into the later years as a revolutionary during the fight for indepenance in Cuba. I don't think this movie would be for everyone as most of it is spent in the jungle during warfare. There are flashes of him speaking at the UN council, and provides some small glimpses of him outside of his war strategies and general thoughts on governing men. I must say that I did enjoy it myself as I found the portrayal to appear to be realistic, and his leadership skills inspirational. And no kidding, its based on a book that he has written. So the story does not provide any information on any other side other than his. But thats fine, as it gives you insight on Che the man and puts you in the first person perspective so you do feel like you are running along side him through the jungle ready to take Havana. I'm interested to see how the second part plays out.
For all the said, it was very well scripted out so I did feel bored, and the camera work and effects were excellent. I can't think of anyone better to play the part of Che than Del Toro.
