In this fifth season, Mary and her hilariously eccentric friends at WJM-TV weather a few storms — sometimes literally. If her love life isn’t challenging enough, Mary takes a crack at producing the news, and even has a brush with the law! Laughs are the lead story when a consultant turns the newsroom on its ear, Lou becomes Mary’s neighbor, and Ted starts a rumor that he and Mary are dating. Featuring some of television’s most memorable characters and story lines, this inimitable series belongs in every DVD collection.

The Mary Tyler Moore Show is one of the best ever - nthn2551
While this still remaines one of my all time favourite TV shows, I think Valerie Harper's (Rhoda) departure from the show hurt it. Rhoda brought a lot of comedy to the show. With that said, Ted is still just as funny as ever. I look forward to renting Rhoda next.like a fine wine - CW--
Each time I get a disc of this series, I think 'this will be the one that has an episode that I won't enjoy'. And every time I'm proven wrong! This season had an abundance of comedy riches, particularly in Betty White's Sue Ann Nivens. Her bite continued to be much stronger than her bark, and Betty White proved she was an indelible part of this ensemble. Definite highlight of the season : Ed Asner in a sombrero! Smart, funny, intelligent comedy series. Ted Knight always steals the show as Ted Baxter: Anchor Man. Every episode of season 5 is hilarously funny. You will enjoy the entire season as the every character combines to make this one of the best series ever.
