Rome: The Complete Series (Blu-ray)
"Rich... Rivetingly complex characters... Sparks fly..." -Washington Post
Four hundred years after the founding of the Republic, Rome is the wealthiest city in the world, a cosmopolitan metropolis of one million people; epicenter of a sprawling empire. The Republic was founded on principles of shared power and fierce personal competition, never allowing one man to seize absolute control. But now, those foundations are crumbling, eaten away by corruption and excess.
After eight years of war, two soldiers, Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo unwittingly become entwined in the historical events of ancient Rome. A serialized drama of love and betrayal, masters and slaves, husbands and wives, Rome chronicles a turbulent era that saw the death of the republic and the birth of an empire.

Took me a little over two years to watch, because I didn't want it to end..... - Mr007
As the title said, yes I waited that long, just because I didn't want this master-piece to end. I hear that their is going to be a season 3, which will be great. I would have to say watch them fairly close together, as it pretty much explains what is happening to one another. One of the best acted dramas I have seen in a very longtime. It is the most expensive (to date) series that the BBC has produced, look for people now staring in series such as Lost, and Grey's Anatomy.Rome - As Real As It Gets - Joesmo9999
This splendidly acted melodrama delivers a bloody good time barreling toward oblivion, delivering enough political intrigue, violence and sex to slake even the most debauched viewing appetites.
Though every detail of this lush Roman epic feels palpably authentic, history lessons don’t loom overly large; what’s most enjoyable about it is how deftly it mixes soap opera with senatorial debates.
With each episode, the show seems to move further from real life and the real Rome and off into some sex-crazed, soap-opera fantasy version of a place that has never, thankfully, existed before or since.
Truly a marvel if you are into period mini-series
