Nope. Can't quietly sit by and have the other side of the argument go unfettered and unchallenged.
Lost is in itself lost. There is nothing of the original intrigue and depth that was so astounding in the first and even second season. The novelty of considering the conundrum that the others are actually the castaways and the introduction of the 'other other others' becomes strained and shallow over the course of this limp and meandering narrative. JJ Abrams reveals the only truth to the entire weird and wonderful island to be the fact that knowing the answers is a hell of a lot less interesting than guessing.
And, if I may, what is with all of the Daddy issues inundated in this narrative? For five seasons there has been nothing but veiled and obvious issues that couldn't be 'father' from the point. Another question that does not need an answer and whose fun lies in the asking.
In addition (scattered thoughts) I was disappointed in the cheesy 1980's style documentary included in the special features. On the one hand I was expecting some sort of non-fiction tie into history and on the other hand I couldn't help wondering how many people took this production to be fact and quickly rushed off to tell their friends and family about the brilliance of Lost and the depth of it's influence. I wonder how many people caught the tell tale sign on the 'space craft' at the start of the mockumentary or how many people failed to read the disclaimer at the end of the show.
Pessimistic. Yes. Complaining is easier than creating. Write a better show you say. Well, perhaps, but like art I just know what I like. If anything, the complexity of Lost has inspired me to believe in the possibility that Never say Never may have in fact been pre meditated. Thank you Lost for opening my eyes to a whole new world of conspiracy.Great Characters and Stories - newdaysof
Lost is an excellent TV series with great actors, interesting characters with fully-developed back-stories, lots of mystery, intrigue, suspense, a beautiful location and lots of action. Once you watch a couple of episodes, you really start caring about the characters and can't stop watching.
Having said all of that, the series can be frustrating at times because nothing ever gets resolved and you are kept hanging on until the next episode - and in the next episode there are more twists and turns and surprises which bring up more intrigue and more unresolved questions and you are left hanging onto until the next episode. After awhile, you start feeling manipulated as a viewer - but because you care about the characters so much, you have no choice but to continue.
My other complaint is with the Hugo character. Seems half his lines are "Awesome" or "Dude". It quickly grows old and stale and stupid and the character becomes meaningless. I am so sick of the word "awesome" and the people who use it. It's a no-brain way of talking. Doesn't take any thought to blurt out the word "awesome" every two sentences.
I also find that there are just too many characters and the back-stories are too detailed and too involved and don't always relate to the main story. I wish they had just focused more on the characters in the present with their day to day struggles to survive on the island, getting food/water/shelter. And also there is just way too much gun violence. Too many people pointing too many guns at each other. And of course, too many "unnecessary cocks".
But those complaints aside, it is still one of the best TV series in the past decade and a refreshing change from the endless reality TV shows and talent shows.Still good - Fullermel
I think that although Lost doesn't have the intrigue and novelty of the first few seasons, and can get quite confusing at times, it is still one of the greatest shows on TV. There were a few episodes that seemed to last forever at the beginning of this season, but as the season goes on, the suspense and excitement is growing with every episode. Can't wait for the sixth and final season.
