Big Love: Season 3
Passion. Jealousy. Treachery. Greed.
Everyone has something to hide in the biggest, boldest season yet of this provocative hit series! Bill Henrickson (Bill Paxton) returns as the enterprising, suburban polygamist who has more than his hands full, with three wives (Jeanne Tripplehorn, Chloe Sevigny, Ginnifer Goodwin), a potential fourth, a growing brood of eight children, and a struggling gaming business meant to safeguard his family should they be "outed" and his Home Plus superstores left vulnerable. Bill's imprisoned father-in-law the "Prophet" Roman Grant (Harry Dean Stanton) plots against him; Roman's twisted son Alby asserts his own lust for power; and Bill's parents, Lois and Frank, continue their murderous feud. And then there's the intensifying, nationwide crackdown on polygamy!
Keep up with the Henrickson's - and their secrets -in the funny, moving and scandalously entertaining third season of Big Love.

This show doesn't quite reach the level of the great tv shows, like The Wire, but it's certainly solid. It's in the family drama tradition, but with a twist, in that the family is of course polygamous. Through that it seems to contemplate the meaning of family in America. I find sometimes the melodrama to be a bit cloying, and I haven't wanted to watch this series as quickly as some others (I'm not dying to find out what happens), but it's certainly a good solid show and I enjoy it when I do get a disk in the mail.Best Season Start Yet! - CEM1
We have been slowing but progressively drawn in to the world of Big Love and the two openning episodes of Season 3 have really sealed the deal. With the main characteres now well established the writers have really begun to flesh out the supporting roles and have enhanced the drama and unpredictability of the show. Can wait for the next disk to arrive!Love that Big Love - cinecynic
The crazy story continues with the Henricksons trying to fit in to regular society while still adhering to their polygamist beliefs. The two episodes on this disc reintroduce Ana, Bill's new love interest and Margie's friend. Because of Barb's health scare, she supports the idea of another wife, so the four of them "date" Ana. Watching Ana's reaction to this scenario is fun. Bill's proposal to build a casino on native land is an interesting look at the subject of bigotry. The negative aspects of the compound are more pronounced at mother is pitted against son and wife against husband. At the same time we see Bill and Barb's daughter trying to find a way to escape the polygamist life while still not turning completely against her family.
