The Jerry Lewis Show: The Best Of
Just the name brings a smile to your face...if not an outright guffaw.
The pioneering, slapstick comedy of Jerry Lewis has earned him the moniker of world's funniest funnyman. Now on DVD for the first time ever are the hilarious "best of" highlights from 13 episodes of The Jerry Lewis Show, which aired on NBC from 1967-69.
Not seen in the U.S. since its original NBC broadcast, Jerry is surrounded by a who's who of Hollywood's comic royalty, and is at his best in the side-splitting classic character portrayals that made him a legendary comedy chameleon.
Jerry portrays Sidney Portnoy (a nebbish and Jerry's alter ego), Professor Frobisher, Oriental criminologist Inspector Sam Lichee, Sergeant Goodguy of the Mounties, a professional scoutmaster to the Osmond Brothers, a hospital orderly, an archaeologist, a thief, a cowboy, a country bumpkin, and a city slicker, among many more.
Guest stars include The Osmond Brothers, Flip Wilson, Don Rickles, Joey Heatherton, Janet Leigh, Shirley Jones, Audrey Meadows, Lynn Redgrave, Barbara Feldon, Nanette Fabray, Imogene Coca, Ben Gazzara, Richard Kiley, Laurence Harvey, Harold Sakata, and others.

A Little Bit Too Goofy - newdaysof
Jerry Lewis is a comic genius with a gift for improvisation and impersonation. The TV series showcases his many talents and comic personalities.
Each show is a series of short skits, with Jerry playing one of the many characters he's made famous over the years: Sydney the simple-minded, innocent and wacky young man, the buck-toothed Chinese inspector Lichee, nerdy and also buck-toothed Professor Frobisher and many more. Every show he is joined by one of the many different comedians and actors from the 1960's. Watching the show is like opening a time capsule and seeing how TV used to be.
Most of the skits are funny and Jerry Lewis is totally hilarious, but many of the sketches may be a bit too silly, goofy and wacky for most people. It is very apparant that Jim Carry got a lot of his material from Jerry Lewis since most of their slapstick comedy is very similar. It's alright in the beginning, but after a while the silliness grows a little thin.
