Minority Report (Blu-ray)
Spielberg's vision of the future, on Blu-ray!
For six years, Washington D.C. has been murder free thanks to astounding technology which identifies killers before they commit their crime. But when the chief of the Precrime Unit (Cruise) is himself accused of a future murder, he has just 36 hours to discover who set him up- or he'll fall victim to the "perfect" system he helped create. It's a mind-blowing action thriller that's such an achievement it "reminds us why e go to the movies in the first place" (Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times).

Great sci-fi flick - DisposableHero
Tom Cruise is great in this futuristic crime thriller. Cruise leads a team of "precrime", who are able to detect murders before they happen via visions of the three "pre-cogs", psychic humans who can see the future. It might sound confusing, but I found the story easy to follow, well acted and flowed really nicely. There's some great characters and a good cast with actors like Colin Farrell and Max von Sydow. MR eventually centers around the pre-cogs seeing Cruise allegedly commit a murder, and his attempts to find out why and try and stop it before it happens. It's suspenseful with some twists. It also carries some very interesting themes, with this extreme example of intrusive surveillance, and the notion of being arrested without actually having done anything,Great sci-fi thrills - icedevilz2
I had seen this movie in theatres and had not seen it again until now. It has aged far more gracefully than I thought it would. While the computer interfaces still are a benchmark against which new display technology gets (jokingly) compared, the other animation in the film (with a few exceptions) also holds up. The concept is brilliant (we are talking about a Dick story here) and the adaptation to the screen works well. Yes, it is largely a different story, but it works. Tom Cruise is at his pre-psycho cult-follower best and the supporting cast (and really there is no other principal actor) does a solid job. This is just one of those really good sci-fi action films. It doesn't really try to be overly 'deep' about the metaphysics involved (although a few lines ought to have been removed) which is good, because normally these 'time travel/future vision' films try to impart 'deep' conclusions. I just wish they would tone down the product placements. This was worse than I.Robot, the gold standard for stupid product placements (what the heck was the Gap scene about). Watch it.
