George A. Romero's Survival of the Dead
Off the coast of Delaware sits the cozy Plum Island where two families are locked in a struggle for power, as it has been for generations. The O'Flynn's, headed by patriarch Patrick O'Flynn (Kenneth Welsh) approach the zombie plague with a shoot-to-kill attitude. The Muldoons, headed by Shamus Muldoon (Richard Fitzpatrick), feel that the zombies should be quarantined and kept 'alive,' in hopes that a solution will someday be found.
The O'Flynn's, who are clearly outnumbered, are forced to exile Patrick by boat to the mainland, where he meets up with a band of soldiers, headed by Guardsman Sarge (Alan Van Sprang). They join forces and return to the island, to find that the zombie plague has fully gripped the divided community.
As the battle between humans and zombies escalates, the master filmmaker continues to reinvent the modern horror genre with wicked humor and pointed social commentary.

Been there done that. No 'life' left in franchise. - owen8
I really like zombie movies and post apocalyptic movies. And I like and respect George Romero's early visionary work in this field. However there was very little 'life' in this movie. I have scene it all before, been there done that better somewhere else. And why are all these Irish people with deep accents on an island off the cost of Delaware? We all know that zombies are a metaphor for something else. But we should be allowed to find that out on our own not be beaten over the head, like a zombie, with a baseball bat. Really wanted to like it more.Yeah, it is that bad. - JuicyFruit
It's not CHEAP, like some of the no-budget, two jackasses with a video camera and their dumb friends movies out there these days, but Survival of the Dead is bad anyway. The plot is silly, the writing is sub-standard, the CG blood and guts are lame, the acting is TERRIBLE, there's no tension, scares or anything redeeming about this movie and overall it was a waste of 90 minutes. I'm a huge fan of the zombie genre too but this was one I wish I'd skipped. Zombies that ride horses? Give me a break- that's contrary to Romero's whole philosophy of the jerky, rigor mortis-riddled walking corpse! Make up your mind George! The sad fact is that Day of the Dead is the only good Romero film other than Night of the Living Dead, which is only good because it's original. Other people's versions are as good or better- the 90s remake of Night is a GOOD movie, and the remake of Dawn is one of the best zombie movies out there. Romero's other films are just bad- best left on the shelves. I wish he'd saved up the money he had to make Land of the Dead, Diary of the Dead and Survival of the Dead, hired a decent writer, director, actors- basically a whole filmmaking team and put out one good film...Can't Believe I Liked This! - 0930tracey
I looooove horror movies, however, I never really got on the Zombie bandwagon. However, I actually kind of liked this one. It was exciting, thought-provoking and all around interesting. Zombie flicks always make me wonder "what would I do?" I'd Zip this if you like the genre, definately!
