Lets be honest How I met Your Mother isn't orginal or creative by any means. Infact it's extremely predictable, formulated and to put it lightly 'playing the waters with caution'.
Season 5 showed signs of weakening storylines, dragged on nonsense and jumped around more than a kangaroo. Alyson Hannigan who was actually pregenant was hiatus for 2/3 of the show that meant 1/2 the laughter. The reason I watch is ONLY because of Marshall and Lily. When you only got 1 ying to the yang it's gonna lack the special magic that makes them perfect equals.good good - claire1984
This show is really great! doesnt take long at all for it to growon you! the characters are great! nothing like doogie howser being a chick magnet when in real life hs' gay! hahaha LOVE IT!

How I Met Your Mother was initially so charming because of the way it benefited from and slyly tweaked well-worn sitcom conventions. That's still true, but the genuine inventiveness that initially made HIMYM must-watch TV has waned a bit. And the characters also feel a little tired by Season 5. At some point, for instance, Barney's lothario act fails to be funny anymore. I hope HIMYM gives its characters more of a chance to grow in future seasons, because here, they seem to be stagnating.
