Wall Street
"Sensationally entertaining...a suave, knowing picture." -New York Magazine
In this riveting behind-the-scenes look at big business in the 1980's, an ambitious young stockbroker (Charlie Sheen) is lured into the illegal, lucrative world of corporate espionage when he is seduced by the power, status and financial wizardry of Wall Street legend Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas in his Oscar winning performance). But he soon discovers that the pursuit of overnight riches comes at a price that's too high to pay. Daryl Hannah and Martin Sheen co-star in Oliver Stone's gripping morality tale about the American dream gone wrong.

Good Story - LilyandMick
This was intense story to learn and absorb throughout the movie. It was great story to begin with and lots of events happening and makes you feel so busy. But this is such a perfect world to see what's going on in Wall Street. I love the story and glad to see it.Cool flashback to the 80s - Sheenie
I never saw this movie when it first came out, but still remember the trailer with Michael Douglas saying, "Greed is good…" This movie showed a high-tech, high-end lifestyle for the 80s which is comicly outdated now but still interesting to watch. Charlie Sheen is still young and not (as) crazy but not much of an actor. He's not a likeable character so I don't really see why Darryl Hannah's character falls for him. For that matter, I don't know why they'd cast the soft spoken actress as a career-climbing business woman because she doesn't suit the part. Martin Sheen and Michael Douglas make the picture - great characters and great acting. This is a fun movie to watch if you like flashing back to the eighties.Difficult Subject Matter For Sure - MovieProf
If you are into the stock exchange, and understand the extremely complicated ins and outs of the trade, then this is a movie for you. If you find the whole thing a bit hard to follow, this movie will be that, too—hard to follow at times.
The basic premise is clear, though: young stockbroker Bud Fox (Charlie Sheen), looking to find a rich patron with which to make his own fortune, hooks the interest of big-game financier Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas). Gekko agrees to take Bud under his wings and show him the real world of corporate takeovers and such, but Bud quickly learns that Gekko operates illegally and with a cutthroat mentality to get what he wants, which is , of course, more and more money. Bud also learns that people he cares about, namely his father (played by real-life father Martin Sheen) can easily be hurt.
That’s the basic plot. Fine, no problem. The problem here is the jargon: I was constantly mystified at what different characters were talking about regarding stocks. It’s an extremely complicated world, and I think the audience who truly understands it all is too narrow. I don’t know how things could have been dumbed down, but anything would have been great.
The other main problem here is the acting, namely, the lead actor: Charlie Sheen is just not a talented actor, and clearly I am not the only one who thinks so, judging by the way his big-screen career rapidly tanked. He constantly tries to project emotion, and I give him credit for that, but I often find he overacts to the point of hilarity. Years later, he made two great spoof films—the “Hot Shots” movies—and they were great because he was allowed to try and act serious, but his inability to do so just made it all that much funnier. Here, he just falls flat.
Michael Douglas is fantastic, but his character name--Gordon Gekko? That’s funny too.
This is not a terrible movie, but it's no "Platoon," which is the best of Oliver Stone.
