When A Nightmare On Elm Street made a killing, horror fans shrieked for more. Soon the diabolic Freddy was resurrected with a vengeance -- along with some of the most terrifying special effects ever to spatter the screen. Look for Robert Englund minus his Freddy face in the opening sequence. He's a real scream!

As is the prevalent case with most sequels, the film is inferior to its predecessor. It is still very, very good, however, more so than most viewers give it credit for. Episodic treatment is punched up by an imaginative series of special effects. Much better than expected.The story continues... - movie_goer
Wes Craven is still the king of horror!
Nightmare 2 wasn't scary like the first. For the prequel Craven reminised the past film to incorporate the new storyline. Instead of Freddie going on a serial kill rampage he induct a young influencial boy instead. What felt like Aliens with krueger crawling out of stomachs and Halloween's michael myers party crashing others 'get togethers'. The movies an ok comeback for Craven and Freddy.A step down from the first one! - Poet
The second installment in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise was kind of a let down from the first one. In this one, we rarely see Freddy and that is a mistake with such a strong character. The movie is not all bad. The acting is OK, the story is potent. There is a lot of nice special effects considering the time when the movie was made. I think they made the good choice, for the next sequels, to have Freddy do his own killing.
