A Nightmare On Elm Street 5: The Dream Child
Evil Has Spawned...
Freddy Krueger returns to deliver a whole new breed of terror in his most fiendishly perverse frightfest yet!
Unable to overpower the Dream Master who vanquished him in A Nightmare On Elm Street 4, Freddy (Robert Englund) haunts the innocent dreams of her unborn child and preys upon her friends with sheer horror. Will the child be saved from becoming Freddy's newest weapon or will the maniac again resurrect his legacy of evil?
For this eye-popping installment, director Stephen Hopkins (Lost In Space, Predator 2) enlisted make-up wizard David Miller (The Terminator), original creator of Freddy's hideous visage. The result: a face that not even a mother could love, and terror beyond your wildest nightmares!

Not bad, but not the greatest - maebers
Not saying this is a bad movie like most people say, but if you look at it real closely; you will see this installment has the most drama than the others. Now the plot sounds like an average horror movie, but it's not. What most people complain about is how slow moving it is and not few people are killed like the other installment.Beating a dead horse - blasters
I think it's time Freddy hung up his claw and retired to a boiler room in Florida. By this installment, it is all old and tired, and it has all been done allready. We do find out about his mother, Amanda, and her story. There are better films to order. You should do so.More funny than scary - Poet
This installment in Nightmare on Elm Street franchise was funnier to me than the first 4. We have Freddy delivering one liners now. It is not necessarily a bad thing in itself. The first 4 didn't scare me much, so we might as well go for laughter.
There are some cool spots in this one, such as the shower scene at the beginning and the comic book murder. Some of the other stuff was a little corny, but that is to be expected for that era of movie making.
Nothing was reinvented here. We get some background on the Freddy character. We get some good bits, but it is very uneven and some of the acting left something to be desired. The movie still managed to be somewhat entertaining for the 90 minutes it lasted.
