William Shatner - The Comedian - TheTruthIsOutThere
I saw this movie at the theatre when it first came out, decades ago. It was the first time I ever witnessed William Shatner as a comedian. If you are a Shatner fan as most Canadians are or should be, you would want to watch this movie just to see his role. A good comedy movie, but also part of William Shatner's legacy.A Worthy Sequel - MovieProf
"Airplane II: The Sequel" isn't as good as the original--few sequels are--but is still hilarious, if you're into satirical comedy. just as with the original, irony and hyperbole play a vital role in the delivery of the lines.
This time, the airplane isn't an airplane at all--it's a space shuttle, on its maiden voyage to outer space. Ted Striker just happens to be on board to help out when things start to go bad. Also returning from the original are Julie Hagerty, Lloyd Bridges, and Peter Graves. William Shatner, however, is the one who steals the show with several classic lines. The best past about Shatner, the often-maligned Captain Kirk of "Star Trek" fame, is that he is playing along with the fun, but seemst just as serious as he is in any other film. Here, he's brilliant.I wouldn't bother - robertdeveau
This movie isn't even worth the time it takes to watch it. With the original writing team absent, the jokes are simply copies of the original jokes. And they're not even good copies.
If you need more Airplane then look at movies like Top Secret, The Naked Gun, or the original Police Squad series instead.
