The only way football star Stefan Djordjevic (Tom Cruise) will avoid a life in the blast furnaces of his bleak Pennsylvania hometown is by winning a college scholarship. Even his coach (Craig T. But it's not too long before the two virtually ruin each other's chances for escape and their door to the future starts to close. Lea Thompson and Christopher Penn co-star.

This was one of the first movies I was kinda blah on. It wasn't terrible but the acting seemed so lame. I realize it was an older movie but...this is how I feel. It was funny to see such a younger version of Tom Cruise prancing across the screen however, that was worth the rental!

Tom Cruise shines in this rather dark coming of age film. Obsessed with football, a factory town relies on its high school football team for solace. Tom sees football as a way to get what he really wants. But when a ruffled head coach rankles at Tom fiery temper, Tom loses his only ticket out.Early Tom Cruise - manatp
Even at that age Tom could throw down pretty good. Overall not my favorite movie but I didn't regret renting it. Seemed like the writers were aiming at small townsfolk a bit too much, only thing I was relating to was the football. I am a Tom Cruise fan however and had to check it out atleast. You've come a long way Tom.
