Analyze This
New York's Most Powerful Gangster Is About To Get In Touch With His Feelings. YOU Try Telling Him His 50 Minutes Are Up.
Robert DeNiro and Billy Crystal team with Lisa Kudrow, Chaz Palminteri and director/co-writer Harold Ramis to make you a comedy offer you can't refuse in this laugh-out-loud mob hit. De Niro, deftly spoofing the wiseguy roles that have been a staple of his estimable career, plays powerful New York crime family racketeer Paul Vitti. Crystal, always one joke ahead of sleeping with the fishes, is shrink, Ben Sobel, who has just days to resolve Vitti's emotional crisis and turn into a happy, well-adjusted gangster. Yes, Sobel is a falmily pychiatrist. But surely this isn't the kind of family he had in mind.

This was a very odd, but funny movie. From what I've seen of Robert De Niro, I'm getting the impression that this is a pretty funny guy. I've seen him in Showtime, Meet the Parents, Meet the Fockers and now Analyze This. All those movies were comedies and all of them were funny. One thing that I didn't like about this movie was the constant swearing. What also made me confused about it was that I saw this movie on a channel where I thought they censored really bad words. I saw the movie Showtime on this channel and they bleeped out the f word. I watched this movie on the same channel and the f word was in the film at least 100 times, yet they didn't bleep it out. But, I don't repeat that garbage. Billy Crystal was very funny as the psychiatrist of Robert De Niro. I like Billy Crystal. He can be very funny. This is way better than the other Harold Ramis movie Year One, with Jack Black and Michael Cera. So, if you saw Year One, see this movie because it's way better.Funny - JOE52
It was funny..no more no less. It was my third view of this movie. It's still funny. Billy Crystal is good, De Niro is not credebile but funny.
C'est un film amusant sans plus. A voir pour se divertir. Ce n'est pas un chef d'oeuvre mais ce n'est pas mauvais.zany fun - poulters
Who ever heard of a tough Mafia boss (DeNiro) having an emotional breakdown... and crying, to boot! Well, that's the premise of this zany comedy about just such a happening, and the consequences for the poor analyst (Crystal) who is picked to work with him are devastating. Especially since this psychiatrist is about to be married... a fact that doesn't seem to enter into the Mafia guy's consideration, for whenever he feels a need to talk, that's when the analyst must be yanked away... one time right from the altar, literally. But there's more, for during this time the Mafia is doing a lot of jockeying to come up with a new Don and this makes the need to 'cure' the emotionally distressed boss all the more urgent and definitely secretive.
