Anatomy
The Subject Is You.
When Paula (Franka Potente, Run Lola Run), a brilliant, ambitious medical student, is accepted into a prestigious anatomy class taught by a legendary professor, it seems like a dream come true. But her school days soon turn to nightmares when several of her fellow classmates turn up dead in the university's morgue. Puzzled by the bizarre deaths, Paula soon uncovers a secret medical society whose members perform grisly autopsies on human subjects - while they are still alive - and is plunged into a chillingly macabre world from which no one escapes to tell the terrifying truth.

I went into this with an "I've Never Seen a German Movie I didn't like" attitude, and came out disappointed. The plot was cliche, the scary scenes weren't scary because I knew exactly when the bad guy would appear and what he'd do, and the actors' hotness was severely hampered by more than one bad haircut. Avoid this one if you like horror flicks, and especially if you like German movies.Creepy German Thriller. - cathyottawa
Franka Potente of The Bourne Identity stars in this creepy little film set at a prestigious German medical school.
She stumbles upon a secret underground group operating at the school, known as the "Anti-Hippocratics". As the name suggests, they've thrown all moral codes out the window in the name of scientific research.
They inject their victims with a substance that slows their blood until they can't move. They can see what's happening to them, but can do nothing to stop it.
The people are turned into strange plasticized medical displays. This was based on the real work of Gunther von Hagens, and his controversial "Body Works" show, where he took just such plasticized corpses on a worldwide tour.
This falls into B movie territory, with dopey dialogue, and predictable plot turns, but the premise is just so darn creepy, especially given the real inspiration of Hagens, that it ends up being a real spine tingler. And the effects are excellent.
