The Best of Monty Python's Flying Circus
England was such a proper place - until the day the Python arrived. Monty Python, that is, a Flying Circus that slithered up the funnybone of an entire nation and gave it fits of laughter.
Here's Monty Python's first feature film - a hilarious collection of their very best twits, skits and bits from their popular TV series. There's "Hell's Grannies" and "The Cannibal Baby Strollers," "The Dead Parrot" routine (he's just resting!) and valuable tips on how to defend yourself against an attacker armed with a piece of fruit. And who will ever forget "The Lumberjack Song" ("I cut down trees, I wear high heels, suspenders and a bra...")?
And, of course, plenty of zany Monty Python animation. Absolutely the silliest stuff since the day Ernest Scribbler wrote the world's funniest joke and died (croak!) laughing.

Yes it is a bunch of pieced together sketches, but it is a bunch of MONTY PYTHON sketches...
If you like the group, this is a great treat. It is not a plot or character-driven traditional movie, certainly. But it does allow you to fall in love with their brilliant brand of comedy.

This is an odd movie. It's just basically the best of (depending on who you ask of course) sketches from the TV series, only they've been redone for film. This can lead to a few arguments as there are a few subtle changes here and there, and some people will argue over how the sketch goes depending on which version they remember best! Some of the sketches are done better here than they ever were during the series, others... Aren't quite as good. It's like wine really, some age to perfection in time while others just turn to vinegar. It certainly all looks a lot better seeing as how it is a flim and not a TV broadcast. If you've seen the shows and like to relive the best moments this is a fun film, if you've never seen it's a good way to get aquainted with the Pythons. A good primer for the original films to come later as well. Cheers.
