Anna And The King
"...Filled With Grandeur, Excitement And Deep, Uplifting Romance!" -NBC-TV
Academy Award winner Jodie Foster and international action star Chow Yun-Fat bring to life the epic true story of a woman who challenged the heart of a king and inspired the destiny of a nation.
English schoolteacher Anna Leonowens has traveled to Siam to educate the fifty-eight children of King Mongkut. If she has preconceived notions about the East, the King has similar notions about the West. But amid the danger of growing political unrest, their respect for each other slowly turns into something more.

A very different adaptation from the King and I but still not bad. I wouldn't call it amazing, but I did thoroughly enjoy it and would recomend it. It was fun seeing Tom Felton as a little boy before he took on the Draco Malfoy role. Jodie Foster is known for her female independance roles and this one does not disapoint. How Yun-Fat is still good and an awesome actor. Enjoy a light drama.Torn on this Movie - Liffey
While some of the scenes were beautiful, there was something off. And I'm not just talking about the end of the movie where the lip sinking went haywire. The story was intersting, a trip into an exotic locale and time-Siam during the 1860's. The lifestyles and morays of the time were brought into focus, contrasting with those of British tutor, Anna. Culture clash with a bit of adventure, action, romance and lots of sweeping scenes. See it for the true story it tells and have fun matching the story with The Sound of Music. Too many parallels to ignore.A little slow at times, but beautifully filmed - Winkle
Beautiful dramatic interpretation of the musical The King and I. Foster's British accent could use some work, and she sometimes comes off as a little cold. The story takes awhile to get going, but once you start caring, you can't stop watching.
Chow Yun Fat is no Yul Brenner, but he's still fabulously delicious as the king of Siam. He can communicate a full range of feeling in one look - very powerful!
Though the chemistry is a little lacking between Foster and Fat, they more than make up for this with gorgeous cinematography, an absorbing look at the history of the time, and some very charming performances by supporting actors - especially the children.
Overall, this film is a magical experience.
