Battlefield Earth
Loaded with edge-of-your-seat action and extremely cool special effects, Battlefield Earth creates a totally new style of science fiction filmmaking.
Earth: It is the year 3000. Man is an endangered species. This original and innovative saga of alien conquest and human rebellion is filled with humor, adventure and jeopardy, mixed with special effects that are completely real, combined together for an explosive and highly entertaining movie that will leave you exhausted!
In a role as you've never seen him, John Travolta stars as the cruelly destructive Terl (Alien Security Chief Of Earth); Barry Pepper is Earth's Fiery Rebel Leader, Jonnie Goodboy Tyler, and Forest Whitaker as Terl's hilarious and deceptive assistant, Ker.

Gets a Bad Wrap - TheDuke
For the most part this movie gets a bad wrap, and for the life of me I really don't know why. I mean, there is an abundance of cheese if the film and the aliens really don't look like they can move fast, but they at least did the aliens live, instead of horrable CGI that most filmmakers would have chosen. As far as the story line goes, if you tune into the movie looking to watch a post-apocolypse movie then you shouldn't be dissapointed. Not the best, alright. - mxg123
I know this movie came out in 2000, but it did feel like an 80’s film. In many ways this may do to its main actor, which in my opinion was never the best. The plot is not bad, similar to the terminator series, with having humans in a situation which could see their total annihilation by the invading forces, as oppose to Skynet destroying all of human race. Some of the shots also felt like a B movie. So be forewarned. Not a total bad movie, but with some reservation.Shocking... Shocking!!! Drinks will not help! - redphantomYNWA
As an avid moive-watcher and a man of undoubtable and unquestionable B-Movie pedigree (easily proved), I fought very hard to find one star for this attempt, but, alas, I just could not do it.
For years I have had this one near the top of my must see list. Sci-Fi (Voted worst ever), Big stars, Big budget flop, everyone said do not waste your time... All elements of pure quality. How could it go wrong? Silly me.
Furthermore, I actually know someone in the film (an extra with dialogue) and lived in Montreal during filming/release. So I remember the hype (Travolta in the new theater). Another strong drawing point.
Anyway, I got my Ebert/Roeper over with some emergency beverages (Just in case) and loaded up the "projector".
What you hope for: A really decently rotten film (B-Movie tending to Z-Movie). Something that is so bad that it is actually enjoyable. At worst you might have to indulge in a couple happy beverages to enhance your experience.
What you get: Complete flat line. The frustrating thing is that the annoying factors of this film compound as you watch, continuing to infuriate and thus, depending on your threshold level, can result in a complete meltdown/volcanic eruption. Examples:
*****SPOILERISH*****
dated fade to cut scenes, really pointless slow-motion (really), all laws of basic physics and chemistry devastated, who knew that Barry Pepper's character was an idiot-savant ---> genius.... and that the universe was driven by micro-economic theory...ARGH!!!! But this is the general trend of the offering.

Okay. Redemption: The DVD has directors commentary. Actually, hearing what Roger Christian's thoughts are, scene-by scene... (messmerized by L. Ron's magic?) Definately funny. My boy, Forest Whitaker not so funny.
This definately goes down as the ONE movie I have seen and I really didn't like. CONCLUSION = DEFINATELY WITHOUT DOUBT THE WORST SCI-FI ever made. I
