Big (Full Frame)
Have you ever had a really Big secret?
Tom Hanks won raves for his Oscar nominated performance (1988, Best Actor) as a twelve-year old boy trapped inside a thirty year old body in director Penny Marshall's winning comedy.
At a carnival, young Josh Baskin (Hanks) wishes he were big- only to awake the next morning to discover he is! With the help of his friend Billy (Jared Rushton), Josh lands a job at a toy company. There, his inner wisdom enables him to successfully predict what children want to buy, making the awestruck, naïve Josh irresistible to a beautiful ladder-climbing colleague (Elizabeth Perkins). But the more he experiences being an adult, the more Josh longs for the simple joys of childhood.

Hanks is the man - TheCritic123
So I know hes done a lot of movies but I still think Tom Hanks is an underrated actor. This movies from when he was younger and revolves around him as a kid, becoming a man over night and everything that comes with it, ie, finding a job and a woman. This movie still holds up well and is a good comedy/family flick thath everyone can enjoy.Fun and sweet! - Poet
Big is a really fun movie. There is such a sweetness about it, it is most certainly a "feel good" film!
Tom Hanks is undeniably part of the reason this Penny Marshall movie was a success. He was so believable as a kid trapped in the body of an adult. You could see that sweet innocence in his eyes.
I highly recommend this one if you are looking for a sweet little comedy.for the child in me - tlefrancois
What we're talking about is a wonderful fantasy comedy about the child, who sleeps in everyone's soul and waits to get free. Superbly written scenes follow each other, not to mention Tom Hanks' performance, which should have been awarded. He seems to me the only contemporary actor, who was able to play the role of a 13-year-old teenager, who becomes an adult from one day to another. Elizabeth Perkins and especially John Heard form a strong supporting cast and this time they really support Hanks' work. This film bothers to talk about more important things, like the loss of innocence, friendship and the first love, not just tells a story about a boy in the big city. This was Hanks' star-making role after a string of stupid comedies in the middle 80s and he deservedly became one of the biggest stars of the 90s. And don't forget, this was his first film in his "outsider" series: he made his biggest successes playing somehow outsider figures: Sleepless in Seattle, Philadelphia, Forrest Gump or the Cast Away. Go and see it, you won't be disappointed even if you think you've lost the child inside you...with the help of this film you will find it. Believe me
