Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
Keanu Reeves (The Matrix) and Alex Winter (The Lost Boys) deliver "spirited performances" (The Hollywood Reporter) in the original righteous comedy about the two ditzy dudes from San Dimas, California. Also starring George Carlin, this hysterically funny historical comedy is a "snappily directed" (Time), "bouncy good time" (The Boston Globe) and a party that goes on and on!
Bill (Winter) and Ted (Reeves) have spent so much time forming their rock band, The Wyld Stallyns, that they're flunking history. Whoa, duuuude! And when Ted's dad threatens to send him away to military school, Bill and Ted realize it could mean the most heinous end of The Stallyns! Luckily, a guardian angel from the future, Rufus (Carlin), has come to them with a most bodacious solution: a time-traversing phone booth to take them into the past to learn about the world from some of history's most influential personalities. Their journey through time turns out to be a blast... but will they learn enough to pass their class?

Who can resist a movie about time travel and featuring Keanu Reeves. Well, you should resist. That is unless you are 12, and are okay with 70's era special effects. We had a few laughs, but they were few and far between.
This is a movie to watch if you have nothing better to do, and the kids are watching with you.Ok Movie - sampid
Surprisingly, the film holds up today. Bill and Ted are truly likeable boneheads and both Reeves and Winter deliver fine performances. Carlin is funny in his appearances, showing that he doesn't need trash-talk to be entertaining. The dialogue is truly amusing, probably because no one talks like that any more. The only weakness is that it's an 80's film, so if you didn't grow up in that era, you might not understand why there's music playing throughout the film, or why everyone looks and dresses so weird (yes, that's how everyone looked in the 1980's). The DVD version is quite nice, but it only has a trailer as a bonus. Still, a must watch, and much better than all the copycat films (including the horrible Dude, Where's My Car?). Party On!And then Keanu was unleashed . . . - Mr_Humidty
This is one of the 80's films I grew up on--it's got some funny moments, it's got something to say, but ultimately it's "safe." It's kind of like "Sixteen Candles" in that regard. This slick studio-produced package has got something to say; it's just not going to upset the status quo. For instance, Bill and Ted aren't going to go back in time to learn about America's history imperial dominance.
