Bleacher Bums
For these fans, Baseball is more than just a game. It's their life!
They're not fans.. they're fanatics! Wayne Knight (Seinfeld), Hal Sparks (Queer as Folk) and Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond) lead an all-star cast in this hilarious comedy about a bunch of die hard baseball buffs.
They're known as the Bleacher Bums, a loud and proud group of fans who watch their team's games from the stadium's cheap seats. Most of them have been attending for years, tirelessly rooting for a team that never seems to win. They know each other, but that's no guarantee that they'll get along. As the game unfolds, the Bums argue, wager, cheer, and boo... and discover they share more in common than they could ever have imagined. From the first pitch to the final out, Bleacher Bums is a comic hit.

This is not a comedy. I was surprised that it was so serious and could actually be made without being a comedy. I guess there are some people that can get their films made, no matter how bad they are, and this one perhaps fits into that category. It is simply a character drama, nothing more. It barely has anything to do with baseball, other than the backdrop of the story. As far as the story goes, it is just a bunch of losers that meet in the bleachers at a fictitious team's stadium (Chicago Cubs, Wrigley Field) to gamble on anything and everything. It's kind of interesting for awhile, but it never becomes more than this. I kept waiting for there to be more, but there wasn't any more, just 90 minutes of the same thing, betting on the next batter, or the next inning or the girl in the next row, etc. I cannot imagine any baseball fan ever liking this movie. A waste of a zip.
