Blow
Based on a true story, Blow chronicles the high-speed rise and fall of George Jung (Johnny Depp, Sleepy Hollow), who became the largest importer of Colombian cocaine to the United States, forever changing the face of drugs in America. Set in the decadent 70's and 80's, Blow traces George Jung's partnership with Pablo Escobar, one of the most infamous and dangerous drug lords in history. Ray Liotta (Goodfellas), Penelope Cruz (All the Pretty Horses) and Paul Reubens (Mystery Men) also star in this riveting film.

Although this is no Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, I seem to love Depp when he plays any kind of drug fiend. The thing that shocked me the most about this movie though is how much I actually liked the character Depp was playing. I couldn't believe that I could have so much empathy for a drug dealer. I almost cried at the end and for me that takes a lot.
Just the fact that the characters are so believable and real makes this movie incredible. Everyone should watch this movie so they have an understanding of this powerful and tragic true story.Blew me away - Chuck_Bytes
Blow sets the standard for story telling. The music, characters, costumes, were all very much set to the decade. This was the birth of Cocanie on the streets and the opportunities it provided to the street hustler. Much like Tony Montana of Scarface, it is the story of a long haired street kid getting rich fast and living the good life. Unlike Scarface, the violence was toned down set more in the California community and touched more on the everyday lifestyle that comes with going from Rags to Riches to Rags again.
Check out the extras, you get to see the real George Jung as he's interviewed in prison. He's done it again! - haras
Johnny Depp is just simply an amazing actor. The way he portrays the character in this film makes you actually feel kind of bad for him - even though he is a drug dealer. After watching the interviews with the real George Jung - you see that Depp has exactly portrayed the speaking and mannerisms of Jung. I've always been a fan of Depp but this really makes me see why! There are some slower spots in the movie...but overall it keeps you interested. I highly recommend it.
