Blue Thunder
Roy Scheider stars in this intense action thriller as a courageous police officer pilot battling government fanatics planning to misuse an experiment attack helicopter. Chosen to test Blue Thunder, Frank Murphy is amazed by the high-speed high-tech chopper. It can see through walls, record a whisper or level a city block. Distrusting the military mentality behind Blue Thunder, Murphy and his partner Lymangood soon discover that the remarkable craft is slated for use as the ultimate weapon in surveillance and crowd control. Jeopardized after being discovered by sinister Colonel Cochrane, Murphy flies Blue Thunder against military aircraft in a spellbinding contest over Los Angeles.

I saw this way back when and recently watched it again and enjoyed it just as much. Not much more than a episode of one of today's police dramas but it is the kind of movie that I wish they made more often these days.
Unfortunately there is limited sequel or merchandising opportunity here so all I can do is reminisce and feel nostalgic.Great action sequences aren't enough to save a poor script. - estefan
A poor script is made better thanks to some great action sequences and good performances. Roy Scheider and Malcolm McDowell are both good, but McDowell's villainous character is very one-dimensional and is bad just for the sake of it. Roy Scheider's relationship with his wife is also not very well thought out. Nonetheless, the final action sequence is incredibly entertaining and kept me gripped all of the way through. With the film had handled the material just as good as the action sequences, it could have been a pretty solid flick. If you like chases here you go!! - OkaZoo
The story line was kind of weak there were some very interesting possibilities that were rather badly incorporated into the whole and the connections between them not well made.
The characters were good I definitely felt a connection with the part played by Roy Scheider and there was a feeling of friendship and loyalty created through his connection with his buddy and only male ally.
I would definitely say that the core of this film lies in the chases, there were multiple kinds and they were very well filmed. If you enjoy a mild adrenaline rush from watching the good guy try to get away then this film will give you that...
Going in you'll be better prepared if you don't expect an incredible story but rather some rare and satisfying chase scenes which this movie aptly delivers!!
Don't look to have your mind expanded but if you just want to revel in some exhilarating action this film will give it to you!!
