Winner! 2 Academy Awards including Best Director
Tom Cruise delivers a riveting and unforgettable portrayal of Vietnam veteran Ron Kovic in Oliver Stone's Academy Award winning masterpiece. Based on a true story, the acclaimed film follows the young Kovic from a zealous teen who eagerly volunteers for the Vietnam War, to an embittered veteran paralyzed from the mid-chest down. Deeply in love with his country, Kovic returned to an environment vastly different from the one he left, and struggled before emerging as a brave new voice for the disenchanted.

I never thought much about this movie when it originally came out but recently i've been watching movies i'd skipped over years ago. I wish i had given the time to this movie sooner. it was a very moving and emotional story about a young man's dashed hopes. it was very well done and tom cruise is excellent.Great Film - bUgs1
This is a very emotionally charged war drama direced by Oliver Stone who won best director for it. Some of the shots in this movie are truely haunting and I think this is one of Tom Cruise's best performences yet. A lot of the images in the film will stick in your head for a while.
This DVD has no features, not even a trailor! Such a good film should have been made a collector's edition from universal! The Audio and Video are good, though.Quite Great - Nic_Insect
I'm a major fan of Oliver Stone's work... well, some of it. Alexander was awful. Anyways, I'd slept on this movie for a long time and finally decided I should see it. It really was quite a thing of beauty - showing the journey of all american boy to ruined vietnam vet. Very much different from what I was expecting, but thoroughly engaging, gorgeously filmed and at times, painful to watch. Cruise is superb - I think this was about the time when people were really taking him seriously as an actor [what the hell happened??]. Still, I prefer Salvador and Platoon - but how can you really compete with those?
